Joon-ho Bong’s ‘Shaking Tokyo’
Joon-ho Bong’s segment in last year’s Tokyo! film anthology is testament to some beautiful storytelling. Usually Asian cinema tends to get convoluted in a maze of subtlety, multiple meanings, and non-linear plots. Subtlety, especially, is frustrating; but in Bong’s ‘Shaking Tokyo,’ it’s magical.
Mad respect for this man. That vinyl library is fucking sick, and I hope someday to have one of my own that’s even a fraction of the size of his.
